Dream Priestess is a free workshop exploring how ritualised sleep, dream incubation and sacred rest were used across ancient Europe as ways to seek guidance, healing and revelation. We'll examine archaeological sites, inscriptions and classical texts, discuss sacred plants for dreaming and practice a 30-minute guided sacred rest journey, called 'Dreaming at Brigid's Well'. This gathering is a space of nourishment and rest for women called to ancient feminine wisdom and European spirituality.

Across the ancient world, dreaming was viewed as a channel of communication with the divine; a source of reputable information to use in prophesy and healing.
People travelled to sanctuaries, completed acts of purification, made offerings and slept in sacred spaces to receive dreams that offered them special instruction.
These practices were overseen by priestesses and ritual specialists who understood how to prepare the body, the psyche and the landscape for sacred dreaming.
In this workshop, we’ll explore well-documented European traditions of sacred sleep and dream incubation, drawing on archaeological sites, inscriptions and classical texts.
We’ll look at healing and oracle sanctuaries where incubation was practised, the role of women within these cults and how dreams functioned as an embodied, relational form of knowing.

We gather on Sunday February 15th, from 2-4pm GMT for our live workshop: Dream Priestess.

In the final 30 minutes we'll move into a guided sacred rest journey called 'Dreaming at Brigid's Well'

A Gathering For Women Feeling Called To Remember their Priestess Roots.
Many of the women that I work with are profoundly sensitive. In a sick over-culture, this sensitivity is often misunderstood to be a curse. But it is a gift, and often is a sign of a special kind of perception and attunement. For many of us, this access to intuitive knowing comes through our dreams.
At one time throughout Europe, there were priestesses tasked with dreaming and overseeing rites of sacred rest. There are dream incubation chambers, textual references and numerous sources pointing to this lesser-known priestess art.
Aside from the intention to offer a space of nourishment and connection for the women of my community, this free gathering is here to awaken the dormant Dream Priestess within you; to remind you that you come from a lineage of wise women whose sacred gifts were often interwoven with mundane acts, like sleeping!

For our 'Dreaming at Bridget's Well' practice, you'll need a comfortable space to lie down flat on your back, with cushions and blankets and an eye pillow or covering.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE PRACTICE?
This is a space for women in The Academy of Feminine Spirituality community. Biological women and those joining with good intentions are warmly welcome. No twats allowed.
